Republic of Irealnd 1 Holland 1
Matches were only 40 mins each way duration
The Republic of Ireland Under-19s were three minutes away from opening their Clarion Hotel Four-nation friendly tournament with a win against the Netherlands at the Carlisle Grounds in Bray.

The central midfield trio of Conor Hourihane, Conor Clifford and Gearoid Morrissey took command from early on and didn't allow the Dutch space to exert their customary passing game.

Ireland went ahead on 26 minutes through a swift move that originated from Conor Hourihane's lay-off to Robbie Brady on the left wing.

Brady skipped past his maker and sent in a wicked cross to the back post where Callum O'Connor arrived on cue to power a header past goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

The Netherlands showed a more determined look about them in the second half and Irish goalkeeper Ger Hanley needed to be alert as Geoffrey Castillion and Lorenzo Ebicilio started to threaten in attack.

Five minutes after the restart, Jenson Cabral's right-wing cross travelled all the way to the far post where Castillion was lurking but his volley skied high and wide.

Ebicilio then missed a sitter from six yards within a minute - his poked effort from Castillion's centre drifting wide by inches.

Brady's brilliance down the flank almost resulted in a second goal for Ireland midway through the second half. He cut the ball back from the end line to the unmarked Greg Cunningham but he could only blast over the bar from ten yards.

The Netherlands eventually got the break they needed three minutes from the end when Ebicilio stole in between two defenders and struck a low shot past Ireland ‘keeper Ger Hanley to earn a draw.
