Stato: First leg of the ill-conceived 'Tour of Death' which also saw Ireland suffer our record defeat against Brazil and most humiliating defeat against little Trinidad & Tobago.
The tour included a game against Argentinal who were at war with England. A lot of the English clubs refused to release players as in their view it was inapproptriate. Politicians eventually got involved and the Argentinian game was dropped but the damage was done.
