Ireland U21: Group leaders Germany score six at Tallaght Republic of Ireland Under-21s suffered a difficult night as Germany scored six in a convincing victory, including three penalties.
Ireland's hopes of qualification were dealt with a blow as Ireland dropped to third spot in Group Five with two games remaining against Israel and Germany.
Aaron Seydel opened the scoring five minutes into the tie and Eduard Lowen made it two from the spot, after Jake Mulraney's foul, in the 21st minute to give Germany a comfortable early lead.
Ryan Manning almost got Noel King's side back into the game four minutes later after his 25-yard free-kick was deflected wide. From the resulting corner, Josh Cullen set up Manning on the edge of the area, but his curling effort hit the side netting.
After the break, Ireland almost reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute after Reece Grego-Cox took the ball down for Corey Whelan to provide a low cross, but Mulraney couldn't reach the ball six yards out.
Two minutes later, Germany scored a third as Teuchert smashed the ball home from the edge of the area. He completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute from the spot after Liam Kinsella's foul to make it 4-0.
Substitute Suat Serdar scored two in the final 10 minutes of the game, including a penalty, to secure a convincing victory for the away side.
Two SSE Airtricity League players made their international debuts during the game as Cork City Sean McLoughlin started, but was forced off with a hip injury after 15 minutes, and Dundalk midfielder Jamie McGrath came off the bench in the second-half.
"It's fair to say that Germany are the best team in the group on the evidence of that performance. You can see why they were Champions two years ago," U21 Head Coach Noel King said.
"I've never remembered three penalties being given away in a game which definitely didn't help us. It was 2-0 half-way through the second-half and it looked like we could have got back into it.
"After that, we were chasing them and they added to the scoreline. We need to regroup after this result before the two games in October. We'll have to get three points in Israel and see where that takes us in the group."
