Ireland 0 Russia 3
Ireland are on their way home from the u16 Euro finals after a second successive defeat. Needing at least a draw from this morning's match against Russia, Brian Kerr's kids slumped to a 3-0 defeat.
Three goals in a twenty-minute spell either side of half time was enough to put Serguei Stoukachov's talented Russians in the driving seat for qualification from the group.
Ireland's bugbear was Russia's only foreign-based player, Dmitri Koudriachov of French club St. Etienne.
He opened the scoring in the 38th minute and wrapped up the victory with the third goal after 58 minutes. In between, Dinamo Omsk defender Alezandre Chechoukov chipped in with a 48th-minute strike. Chechoukov was also Russia's hero in their opener against England, scoring the winner in a 3-2 victory.
Having lost to Portugal 1-0 in their first game, Ireland now have no hope of qualifying and have only pride to play for in their final group game, against England.
