REP OF IRELAND U16 2 SWITZERLAND U16 2 (Switzerland win 5-3 on pens) THE Republic of Ireland had to settle for sixth place in the Ballymena International tournament after losing a penalty shoot-out with Switzerland yesterday.
Vincent Butler's side took the lead when Ian Morris scored from the penalty spot on 20 minutes after Billy Clarke had been upended.
The Swiss equalised two minutes later through Bekim Halimi, before Murat Ural put them ahead in the 55th minute. Anthony Stokes levelled matters after 70 minutes but the Irish lost out in the shoot-out in what was their final match of the season.
