Match report
Colin O’Brien’s side had the perfect start to the game with Charlie McCann breaking the deadlock in the third minute.

Striker Mipo Odubeko’s shot was blocked in the box and McCann was quickest to pounce with a smart finish.

The visitors would win the game in the final 10 minutes of the first-half with two goals. Sampo Ala took advantage on some lapse defending to equalise for the visitors in the 35th minute.

Finland’s winning goal came three minutes before the break when Naatan Skytta’s free-kick was deflected into the net, giving goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran no chance.

Speaking after the game, Under-17 Head Coach Colin O’Brien was happy with his side’s performance, despite the defeat.

“We had a really good performance. We didn’t deserve to lose the game. We had the better of the game for the first 30 minutes," O’Brien revealed.

“It was a really good test. We’re happy with the test we got. We didn’t have it all our way, and we won't have it all our way in the tournament.”

“The players will be disappointed with the result, but there is a lot to be proud of from today.”
