The Republic of Ireland Under-16s opened their season with a comprehensive victory over Latvia in Estonia

Ireland took command from the early stages and missed a cluster of chances before defender Noe Baba fired them ahead on 39 minutes.

Bobby Moseley and Eoghan Stokes added two more late on to underline the dominance of John Morlings side.

Dean O Halloran, Craig Donnellan and Alex O Hanlon each passed up chances before Baba showed them the way.

The Castlebar Celtic read am inviting cross on 38 minutes to head home.

Peter Burke in the Ireland goal was untroubled during the first half but he was made keep the boys in green in it with two stops shortly after the turnaround.

Bobby Moseley of Birmingham City, appearing at international level for the first time, marked the occasion with a goal. The defender smashed his foot home on 70 minutes.

The hard working Eoghan Stokes completed the scoring late on by nodding in Jake Mullraneys cross.

Ireland follow this encounter in Võru by taking on Estonia on Thursday.
