The Republic of Ireland senior Women’s team finished their Algarve Cup friendly tournament by losing to Poland in a play-off following a 2-2 draw.
Ireland raced into a 2-0 lead but Poland rallied and scored twice to force the game into a shoot-out where they prevailed after a tense round of spot-kicks.
Noel King’s Irish side had beaten Poland 1-0 in the group stages on Monday, courtesy of a winning goal by captain Ciara Grant. |
