Match report
Denise O'Sullivan broke the deadlock 16 minutes from full-time with her third goals in three competitive matches before Ciara Grant grabbed a second on 87 minutes.

Ireland had struggled to unhinge a sturdy visiting side that seemed contest to soak up pressure and hit on the counter-attack.

While Ireland had much more of the ball during the contest, they were left frustrated by a lack of clear opportunities.

After Stephanie Roche was denied by a smart save by Israel goalkeeper Merav Shamir after only three minutes, Sue Ronan's side scarcely had much by way of goalscoring chances.

Indeed, Emma Byrne in the Irish goal was called upon to produce a save with her legs midway through the opening half when Adva Tvil was allowed race clear undetected.

Chasing an interval lead, Fiona O'Sullivan had a goal disallowed in stoppage time for an infringement on goalkeeper Merav Shamir moments before she rolled the ball into an empty net.

The American-born striker should have done better with a shot that zipped wide on 70 minutes.

But her namesake Denise made no mistake four minutes later when a Grace Murray left-wing cross landed into her path. The Wilton United striker's low volley from ten yards carried enough power to beat Shamir.

Israel retreated further in the final stages, allowing Ireland create a series of late attacks.

Substitute Dora Gorman was only introduced a minute when she picked out the onrushing Ciara Grant to play a captain's part by tucking home the second goal at the near post.

The victory gives Ireland six points from three matches, sufficient to be three behind leaders France who defeated Wales away 4-1 today.
