Match report
The Republic of Ireland Under-16s lost 4-0 to Hungary in an international friendly in Budapest, on Thursday morning.

1st Mar 2018

Two goals, either side of the break was enough for the home side to win at the Hungarian FA Headquarters in Telki. Played in sub-zero temperatures, Head Coach Paul Osam made seven changes to the Ireland side that lost 3-2 to Hungary earlier this week.

Speaking after the game, Osam said it was defensive errors and missed chances that led to the defeat.

"We didn't start very well, but had a brilliant chance to equalise when we were losing 1-0. On the stroke of half-time an unforced error let Hungary double their lead," said Osam.

"We changed a few things at the start of the second half and started very well. We could have scored to make it 2-1, but another goal for Hungary meant it was game over.

"The players are realising that at international level, errors will lead to the opposition punishing you. When they make errors, we need to be more clinical."
