The Republic of Ireland Under-16s lost 2-0 to hosts Sweden in their opening match of the UEFA Development Tournament in Lysekil. 19th May 2018
Sweden scored twice in the opening 10 minutes, and despite the best efforts of Paul Osam's team, they were not able get on level terms with the hosts.
Although the team suffered a loss, Head Coach Osam was impressed with how the team performed.
"We had a very slow start, conceding two poor goals in the first ten minutes. You cant do that at this level.
"In the second-half we were excellent. We created six or seven opportunities to score. I don't think Sweden had one chance. The team were really good.
"Overall I was delighted with the second-half performance."
The team return to action on Sunday afternoon. They play Austria in Stenungsund at 1.30pm (12.30pm Irish time)
