Alan who began his football career with the famous Cherry Orchard side, moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 1997 before moving across the city to join Sheffield United at the end of last season. Another player who came through the Irish underage set-up, he scored Ireland¹s goal in the 1998 European Championship Under-18 final against Germany, before scoring a penalty in the historic shoot-out success. He won his first full cap against Norway in 2003 and has now won six caps.
