Eamom Deacy a strong tackling full back was a member of Galway Rovers team in their first season in the League of Ireland in 1977-1978.
The following season saw him transfer to Aston Villa. He never really made the breakthrough at Villa making only 9 appearances in their Championship winning team of 1980/1981
He went to Derby County on loan but rejected a permanent move and returned home to Galway United.
He was a member of the Galway United team that was beaten by Rovers in the FAI Cup Final of 1985
He made his Irish Debut in the 2-0 defeat against Algeria coming on for Kevin Moran.
He was part of the ill fated tour in 1982 in which Ireland lost their three games.
