Alan Campbell played for Shamrock Rovers and Racing de Santander and also played for the Republic of Ireland national football team on three occasions.
He made his Rovers debut on the 11th of October 1978 in the Leinster Senior Cup (football) and scored twice in a 5-1 win over St. Francis.
He made 4 appearances in European competition scoring once
He was the League of Ireland top goalscorer in the 1979/80 season with 22 goals.
He signed for the Spanish side in August 1984 and went on to score on his debut against Sporting de Gijón on the 2nd of September.
